A Basingstoke driving school

Wayfarer is an independent driving school formed in Basingstoke in 1987. We have two DSA approved driving instructors: myself, Richard Fosh, and Bernadette (Bernie) Warwick.

Basingstoke - centre of the known universeOver the years we've helped well over a thousand drivers pass their driving test. If you live in Basingstoke it's almost certain you will know someone who has achieved success through driving lessons with Wayfarer.

If you want to learn to drive, need a refresher lesson, or would like motorway training or Pass Plus, we will do our very best to teach you. Lots of people recommend us to their friends, family and colleagues, for which Bernie and I are very grateful.

Friday night, darkest winter, lots of traffic - you wouldn't choose that for your first test, Atul :) Still, that's the hand you were dealt - and you passed - first time!
I was so pleased for you, you really did deserve the result.

Lessons and Prices

Highway CodeTo book driving lessons, please use the online enquiry form, call or text Bernie or me, or email us. If you send a phone number with your name we'll call you straight back.

All new drivers (who haven't passed their theory test) will receive a free copy of the Focus software for PCs and a Highway Code - everything you need to pass your theory test. We also provide free theory tests to complete between lessons.

To start driving lessons, you need to be at least 17 years old, and have a provisional licence - click here to get one.

Focus DVDPrices:

  • £25.00       Hourly rate
  • £120.00     Five hours prepaid
  • £230.00     Ten hours prepaid
  • £170.00     Pass Plus normal rate - six hours
  • £150.00     Pass Plus for Wayfarer customers - six hours. See below to save £75.00 with HCC

"Whenever you hear the word “lesson” you always assume there’ll be some kind of boredom involved, but driving lessons with Bernie were always fun!
Straight away she was very easy to get along with and instantly became a friend, and the whole process of learning to drive was really enjoyable, and never once was stressful.
Bernie always made everything clear and easy - I think this really helped me to pass first time! I also went on to do Pass Plus - which gave me even more good experience. I’d recommend Bernie to absolutely anyone!

I am so glad I decided to have lessons with Richard, as from the very first lesson he made me feel comfortable and relaxed about driving, which helped to calm my nerves! He was always on time and easy to contact, and I always felt I could ask questions, even when I thought they were stupid - and only occasionally would he laugh! I enjoyed being taught by Richard, and feel confident that having been taught by him I will be a competent and safe driver.
